Dockner, Engelbert

Engelbert Dockner is Full Professor of Finance and Corporate Strategy in the Department of Finance, Accounting and Statistics at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business. He received his doctoral degree in 1984 from the Technical University of Vienna in mathematical economics and operations research and was awarded his “Habilitation” in 1993 from WU Vienna University of Economics and Business. Prior to his current appointment he was Tenured Professor of Economics at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, Professor of Business Administration at the University of Bielefeld and Full Professor of Finance and Chairman in the Department of Finance at University of Vienna. He held Visiting appointments at Queens University in Ontario, Canada, University of Magdeburg, Germany, and Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia and was visiting scholar in the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley, in the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia, Canada, and the Department of Economics at Australian National University. His fields of specializations are corporate investments and financing, asset pricing, dynamic game theory and real options.

He has published widely in international journals such as Management Science, Marketing Science, American Economic Review, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Journal of Industrial Economics, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Business Research, European Economic Review, International Journal of Systems Science, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Journal of Forecasting, Annals of Operations Research, Applied Mathematics and Computation,  and in German Journals such as Zeitschrift für Betriebswirtschaft, and Zeitschrift für betriebswirtschaftliche Forschung. He is the coauthor of a widely used book on differential games in economics and management science published by Cambridge University Press and he won the best paper award at Open Economies Review. Currently, he serves as the Department Editor Finance of BuR - Business Research, as the Editor of Journal für Betriebswirtschaft and is member of the editorial board of Empirica and International Game Theory Review.
