Conference Summary

Addressing all kinds of researchers from the involved fields, the first BuR – Business Re-search Conference on “Finance, Accounting, and Taxation” attracted more than five dozen participants from Austria, Switzerland, and Germany, thereby underlining the demand for such meetings to discuss actual research topics. Having accepted theoretical, experimental, analytical, as well as empirical work, 30 papers were submitted whereof 12 (accounting: 7, finance: 5) were selected for presentation after having successfully passed the double-blind review process.

With more than sixty researchers participating in the opportunity for information exchange in an international setting, the authors of the accepted works benefitted from the conference by the provision of constructive project-based feedback by an additional review round as well as the discussions after their conference presentations. In addition, all of these 12 presentations will be considered for publication in BuR after successfully implementing the proposed improvements.

BuR – Business Research kindly thanks European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) for hosting and financially supporting this first BuR conference, as well as Kay Blaufus and Sven Husmann for their organizational support. The next BuR conference is  “Accounting and Taxation”, to be held on December 3, 2010, at the University of Mannheim.
